It is better to be dead and not know life, than to be alive and not know why. Most people live expended lives, entirely dependent on the chase of abundant material acquisition or the pursuit of enjoying as many material experiences as possible, either because the

individual has no higher life pursuits or because it is intended that through these temporal means he may gain happiness, lasting contentment, and freedom from difficulty, but they will find that this lasting contentment they seek will always escape them. and that at best, even with all the achievements and material opportunities, they will not be able to attain the ease and peace of mind they seek. yet this is what most of us strive for and set for ourselves as the essence of our existence.

Life is beyond just you , we have the keys to unlock lives, as our lives depends on the value we place on others. for everything in life is vain, except for that which is beyond the physical. Even the bible describes the life of man as grass; Isaiah 40:6b -8 “all men are like grass, and all their glory like the flowers of the field. The grass withers and the flowers fall because the breath of the lord blows on them, surely, the people are grass. The grass withers and the flowers fall but the word of our GOD stands forever”. This is the fate of man gained from his fallen nature. The purpose of man’s life is not to acquire the world and it’s glory. The essence of life is embedded in God’s word that lives for ever.

God is calling everyone of us to work, for the will of the father is to take you to your rest and not to break you, to help you find purpose and grant you the grace to accomplish it. ( Isaiah 40:28-31) we are born for a unique purpose and the pursuit is “ministry”. Ministry is an embodiment of service to God and humanity. The devil will fight at all cost to truncate this purpose in the life of man. The fall of man is interfering with people’s mind. The activated software of the fallen man has become a major setback in the life of many believers. This is why the prayer of divine illumination must be taken seriously at all times. Revelation knowledge is the code for knowing purpose. The first thing God did after releasing divine energy upon the surface of the earth by the brooding of the Holy spirit was to command light into existence. The light here in Genesis 1:3, does not refer to the luminous bodies like the sun, moon and stars, but rather, the light refers to revelation knowledge.

Revelation knowledge brings light to the human spirit, it gives direction to knowing the essence of man’s existence on earth. One major area where we need revelation is to know who we are, until we know who we are, we  won’t start becoming it, because, revelation is the key to manifestation.  you are God’s offspring, recreated in Christ  Jesus not of human will but by the spirit of God. Everything on earth produces after its own kind. You can only replicate what has been installed in you before the foundation of the world. You are a carrier of God’s spirit, therefore, if  you are a child of God, ye are gods, there is so much potentials in the believer as a carrier of the divine nature of GOD. The essence of life is dominion, man was created to dominate, Genesis 1:27-28 “So God created man in His own image, in the image of God created He him; male and female created He  them. and God blessed them and said unto them, be fruitful and multiply and replenish the earth and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowls of the air and over every living thing that moves upon the earth.

The real you is the God – nature that you carry within. The God like image, the unique abilities, the potentials and the capacity of that personality on the inside are unlimited. That man is endowed with God’s abilities who calls the future He wants and it will come. That is the Man that can create something out of nothing.

The major reason for making us in His image and likeness is to enable us relate with Him and act like Him. Every life is loaded with unique abilities and your unique ability points to your unique assignment. As you discover those things you are able to do with much ease, channel your energy in those areas and ensure that you bring back maximum return to God. Refine your talents and abilities, invest them in the kingdom of God, thus, prospering on earth and rich towards God.

Before God made us, He determined what role He wanted each one of us to play on the earth and shaped us for the task He has assigned to us. The reason you are the way you are, is because, you were made for a specific assignment. The essence of your life is for good works, for the glorification of the Father and service to humanity. God intentionally  designed you the way you are to serve him in a unique and special way. “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God had before ordained that we should walk in them” (Ephesians 2:10). It is a waste of life to ignore purpose in pursuit of trivialities . God wants us to function in time having the consciousness of eternity in mind.

The life of man is governed by time, though man is an eternal being by nature, his existence here on earth is subject to time. The realization that we do not have forever to live should produce an awakening in every man to make the most of every seconds in living an invested life and preparing for eternity.    Psalm 90:2. ” Teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts to wisdom”. Your strength should be invested in doing the will of God, for that is what really counts before God.  ” Be very careful, then, how you live, not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. Therefore, do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is” (Ephesians 5:15-17 ). It is of importance that we take our eyes off the world system and fix them on the Lord. The essence of life is not in the basic necessities of life, therefore, we do not base our existence on them. According to Ephesians 5:11, it   says, ” have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them”. Fruitless deeds in this context refers to the world system of mere busy works that do not yield in eternity and doesn’t count before God.

In conclusion, Life is like a candle, the impact you give is the light you shine on others and your relevance in the hands of God. Because in the end, we melt as wax , returning to God our maker. Thus, it is pertinent to live an invested life, a life of love and kindness, a life of moral victory and commitment to fulfilling God’s program. Let us always put God “first” in our daily involvements and always ask for the leading of the Holy Spirit, for He is the spirit of wisdom and a senior personality to partner with.

Ask God to open the eyes of your understanding to the knowledge of who you are in Christ and the purpose for which you were created. Ask HIM to show you the essence of your existence on earth.

Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled; but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge.” Hebrews 13:4 (KJV).

We are in the Last Days and satan is using all the forces at his disposal to attack children of God, especially in the area of marriage. God Himself is the Manufacturer of the Marriage Institution and as such has the Manual with which to run marriage successfully and overcome all satanic attacks therein (see Jos. 1:8).

There is no marriage that exists without challenges. For instance, the first marriage between Adam and Eve suffered an attack from satan who succeeded in deceiving the latter, thereby resulting in the Fall of Mankind ( Gen. 3). The aforementioned attack came as a result of the violation of certain marital principles i.e., Eve assuming the leadership role rather than Adam and a breakdown in communication.

In view of this, every Christian married couple has a joint responsibility to decide and determine to practice the Principles of God governing marriage. This requires, amongst other things, walking in the Spirit in order to subdue the flesh (see Gal. 5:16-23) and utilizing Agape Love as a Weapon with which the devil is overcome in our marriages. Love is a determined decision by one to act sacrificially for the benefit of another unconditionally.

The following are basic ways the Language of Love is interpreted by a married couple:

1. Respect: The woman respects the man by obeying his instructions and not undermining his authority. Anytime a woman challenges her husband’s ideas and opinions, he sees it as disrespect which might lead him to treat her as a fellow man.

2. Submission: This is a portmanteau word i.e., “sub” meaning “under” and “mission” meaning “ideas, dreams, goals, etc.” According to Ephesians 5:22-24, wives are required to submit to their own husbands in all things. Submission is not weakness but strength under control.

3. Teachability: The woman needs this in order to receive direction from her head (see 1Pet.3:1-7; 1Tim.2:11-15).

4. Helpmeet: The woman is required to assist her husband and deputize on his behalf i.e., do things exactly as he would on the occasion of his absence (see Gen. 2:18).

5. Service: The woman’s primary responsibility in the home is to serve her husband and care for his needs (see Ps. 45:10-11). This involves placing him even above the children.

6. Sexual fulfilment: It is the duty of the woman to sexually satisfy her husband (see 1Cor. 7:2-5).

1. Words of Affirmation: As husbands, what you say to your wife and how you treat her matters a lot (see Eph. 5:25-26). She needs to be assured periodically with sincere words like “You’re so beautiful” and “I love you.”

2. Affection: Husbands must show their wives unconditional love, affection and tender loving care. Every wife needs to be touched and caressed.

3. Provision: The husband is the designated breadwinner of the family so provide for your wife and children (see 1Tim. 5:8).

4. Honour: Husbands are expected to treat their wives with honour as precious jewels (see 1Pet. 3:7).

5. Leadership and Cultivation: The husband is both the family priest and the cultivator (hence the term “husband” from the word “husbandry”). Therefore, husbands must provide direction, spiritual covering and admonition for their wives and children (see 1Cor. 11:3).

Dear Lord, please help us to walk in the Light of Your Word and in the Fruit of the Spirit, which is Your Very Nature. Father, please help us overcome all satanic attacks in our marriages as we walk in the Spirit and walk in Love in Jesus’ Mighty Name. Amen.

GENESIS 2:18-25; GENESIS 24:1-4; ISAIAH 34:14-16; ECCLESIASTES 4:9-11

Nevertheless, because of sexual immorality, let each man have his own wife, and let each woman have her own husband. 1 Corinthians 7:2 (NKJV).*

Choosing a life partner is the third biggest life decision you will make after your decision to make Jesus your Lord and Saviour and the decision to discover your purpose in life *(see Acts 9:1-6)*. It is not a decision to be made hastily neither is it a decision made based on emotions which are unstable and fleeting.

We need to understand first of all that God does not choose or thrust a spouse on anybody *(see Gen. 2:22-23)*. This is due to the fact that He made man as a free moral agent who must solely bear the responsibilities for his choices or decisions in life. In other words, God may reveal to you the right kind of spouse to marry but the onus lies on you to choose whether or not you will go the whole nine yards. We must also understand that when we are choosing a life partner, we are not just choosing a husband or wife. We are choosing an accomplice, a helper and someone who will go to war and fight battles with us *(see 1Pet. 3:7)*.

Below are a few of the Basic Scriptural Principles to guide us in choosing a life partner:

*1. Knowledge:* You must equip yourself with the knowledge of what marriage is all about through reading books and listening to messages that teach about marriage *(see Prov. 24:3-4)*.

*2. Divine Guidance:* Choosing a life partner is not a choice we make based on emotions alone. We must first of all seek God’s Guidance and get confirmation through the inward witness as well as counsel from authority figures in our lives *(Prov. 3:5-6; 11:14; 15:22)*.

*3. Unity of Purpose:* You must look out for someone who has the same beliefs as you. Look out for someone who is headed in the same direction in life as you are. For example as believers, the Bible commands us to marry “only in the Lord” *(see 1 Cor. 7:39)*. This is also known as Spiritual Homogeneity. *(see also Amos 3:3; 1 Cor. 15:33; 2 Cor. 6:14)*.

*4. Compatibility:* This is the ability to coexist with someone without mutual contradiction. Areas include spiritual, biological, intellectual, and vocational compatibility.

Heavenly Father, thank You for giving us the the power of choice. Please help us to use it wisely and choose our spouses in accordance to Your Will so that our marriages will contribute to the furtherance of Your Kingdom and ultimately bring You Glory in Jesus’ Mighty Name. Amen.

BIBLE READING: PSALM 41:9; ZECHARIAH 13:6-7; PSALM 55:12-14; JOHN 15:14-15*

Being Friends

*“Now when Job’s three friends heard of all this adversity that had come upon him, each one came from his own place– Eliphaz the Temanite, Bildad the Shuhite and Zophar the Naamathite. For they had made an appointment together to come and mourn with him, and to comfort him.” Job 2:11(NKJV)*

Friendship is one of the most misunderstood and abused concepts in life. The sad truth is that many people cannot identify the fine line between friends and acquaintances. The Bible tells us clearly that *“A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for adversity.”* (Prov.17:17) In other words, genuine friends stay committed to their own friends through thick and thin.

There is a subtle difference between being friendly with some and being friends with others. The former refers to congeniality i.e., the ability to socialize and get along with the vast majority of people. The latter, on the other hand, focuses on the building of alliances and fellowships. *(see Prov. 18:24b)* Being friendly requires diplomacy and common ground but making true friends requires compatibility of purpose and vision like the case of Mary and Elizabeth. *(see Lk. 1:39-56)*

Genuine friendship creates intimacy which in turn creates vulnerability. This is one of the major reasons treachery at the hands of a friend is extremely heartbreaking just like the case of Judas’ betrayal of the Lord Jesus: *“Immediately he went up to Jesus and said “Greetings, Rabbi!” and kissed Him. But Jesus said to him, “Friend, why have you come?” Then they came and laid hands on Jesus and took Him.”* (Matt. 26:49-50)

Genuine friends enhance your value and help to refine you. In life, there are three kinds of people who come your way:

(1.) Those who come for a reason.
(2.) Those who come for a season.
(3.) Those who come for a lifetime.

A genuine friend is someone who either possesses something you desire or desires something you possess. Beware of those who claim to be friends but are on a mission to corrupt you. *(see 1Cor. 15:33)* Friends are destiny helpers and allies who assist you in reaching your destination. The Lord grant us the discernment to identify them at every point.

Heavenly Father, we ascribe all the Glory to You. O Lord, please help us choose the right friends who will act as boosters of our destinies in Jesus’ Mighty Name. Amen.

For God so greatly loved and dearly prized the world that He [even] gave up His Only Begotten (Unique) Son, so that whoever believes in (trusts in, clings to, relies on) Him shall not perish (come to destruction, be lost) but have Eternal (Everlasting) Life. John 3:16 (AMP).

Many people in a relationship can proclaim that they love the other person but True Love has the following characteristics :

This is also called “The Sacrifice Test.” Where there is genuine love, there will be the willingness to sacrifice *(1Jn. 3:16)*. True love involves the willingness to be inconvenienced and to displease oneself for another.

This is also called “The Forgiveness Test”. Proverbs 10:12 states, “Hatred stirs up quarrels, but love covers all offenses.”

1 Peter 4:8 (AMP) also says, “Above all things have intense and unfailing love for one another, for love covers a multitude of sins [forgives and disregards the offenses of others].”

One must always ask the question “How much am I willing to forgive the other person?” True love covers a 1multitude of offenses. Any love that is not tested by disagreements is questionable.

When you are in love with anyone, you should be proud of that person when you are before others *(1Pet. 3:1-7 AMP)*. You should be excited to introduce them to your parents, friends, etc.

You marry a person not just for today but for your future. This implies that you should have a vision before you look for a wife or a husband. Be sure that if they make you a president tommorow even though you are a mechanic now that you will still be proud of the person you intend to marry.

It is also called “The Fire Test”. When the person you are truly in love with goes through trying times, will you still stand by him or her? *(see Prov. 18:24)*. For instance, if the person you claim you love loses both legs will the love still remain?

When you truly fall in love with a person, it is not just the body (the house) but the occupant of the house (the spirit) that you should be in love with. Age, sickness, financial crisis etc., will test your love. Proverbs 17:17 (NKJV) states that, *”A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for adversity.”*

It is also called “The Nakedness Test.” This involves spending enough time with someone to know their behaviour or how they act. There are certain behavioral traits that time will expose (see 1Thess. 5:21).

Marriage is a place of endurance and tolerance. It is a place where you accept people the way they are. It is not a place for changing people. Let people change gradually on their own because of love. If you marry a person to change the person, that marriage will become a battleground.

  • Father, I pray that my love for my spouse may abound yet more and more in my marriage. Let it extend to its fullest development in knowledge and all keen insight that my love may display itself in greater depth of acquaintance and more comprehensive discernment in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

“And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.” Genesis 2:7(KJV)

In our previous devotional, we have seen that we don’t belong to ourselves but rather to the Lord God Almighty; one of the major reasons nobody else but God has the right to lay claim on us is the fact that He is our Creator. The Bible clearly states that ALL THINGS, mankind inclusive, were created solely for His Pleasure (Rev. 4:11). However one may choose to view it, the Creator always takes preeminence over the created.

The very first Name of God recorded in the Holy Scriptures is Elohim, a plural Name which literally means “the Godhead,” portraying the Almighty as the Creator of everything in existence (Genesis 1:1). Every creator or manufacturer always has a specific purpose for designing and creating his product as well as a manual which stipulates the terms of usage. In all my life, I am yet to see, say, a blender arguing with its manufacturer about its preference as a football trophy. Every creator reserves the right to determine what would be best for his creation. In other words, the Potter never consults the clay regarding its preferred use but rather makes any vessel “that seemed appropriate to him.”(Jeremiah 18:4 ISV).

The irony of our futile lives is that we more often than not set agendas that at best push God to the periphery and pursue them relentlessly, hoping God will just place His Blessing upon our plans; the Bible reminds us that, “there are many plans in a person’s mind, but it is the counsel of the Lord which will stand.”(Proverbs 19:21 NET). Put in another way, God is only under obligation to sponsor and empower His Purpose, not our plans; He never funds any project that never originated from Him.The Lord is our Creator, as a result, we belong to Him; it is the highest honour to be referred to as God’s Property. A wise man once said, “I’m blessed not because of who I am but rather because of WHOSE I am.” The Lord created us for a unique purpose, consequently, the onus lies upon us to trust Him absolutely to bring us to the expected end (Jeremiah 29:11). Abandon your agenda and embrace His, because He is your Creator, knowing your end from your beginning.

•I belong to God Almighty, the Creator of Heaven and Earth.

•My trust is solely in Him, therefore, my foot will never slip; His Agenda is my agenda and I live to accomplish His Will.

Heavenly Father, I worship and adore You; I acknowledge You as my Creator. Let Your plans and purposes for my life be accomplished in my generation to the glory of Your Name; I yield to Your Will and Your Way in the mighty Name of Jesus Christ.

“For I have known him, in order that he may command his children and his household after him, that they keep the way of the Lord, to do righteousness and justice, that the Lord may bring to Abraham what He has spoken to him.” Genesis 18:19(NKJV).

The role and importance of values in any society, especially the Church, can never be overemphasized. Even the Scripture declares that, “Righteousness exalts a nation but sin is a reproach to any people.”(Proverbs 14:34). The word “righteousness” in this context refers to values; this means that the value of a nation’s wealth is a direct reflection of the wealth of the nation’s values. The Church, according to Scripture, is “a Holy Nation”(1Peter 2:9a). Besides, a nation’s collective values are an accumulation of individual values.

Values can be defined as beliefs of a person or social group in which they have an emotional investment either for or against something. Your values regulate your priorities which in turn regulate your choices in life. Every father has a responsibility to instill godly and biblical values into his son’s heart, training him up in the way that he SHOULD go rather than the way he WANTS to go so that they will not go astray in adulthood.

The Bible clearly states that you should, “Point your kids in the right direction-When they’re old they won’t be lost.”(Proverbs 22:6 MSG). On the flip side of the coin, genuine sons have the responsibility of imbibing and reflecting the godly values of their fathers. In Caesaria Philippi, Jesus asked His disciples the public opinion about Him; it is noteworthy that not a single person said He was say, Balaam or Korah (Matthew 16:13-19). Like always begets like, hence, a jackal an animal that is a scavenger supreme can never reflect the values of a dignified predator such as a lion.

You maybe able to teach me what you know but you can only reproduce who your are. By virtue of the Law of Reflection, a humble father can never produce arrogant sons neither can an immoral father produce chaste sons. In other words, one can never give what one doesn’t have. Apostle Paul told the Church in Philippi, “The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of Peace will be with you.” Philippians 4:9 (NKJV). The onus lies upon everyone to know the heart of his father for therein lies his burdens and values. Only then can we truly know and express those values as authentic sons.

•Ask the Holy Spirit to impress your father’s burdens upon your own heart.

•Pray for the grace to reflect your father’s values.

•My father’s values are my values.

•I decree and I declare, that because the Lord does not change, therefore, I and my household will not be destroyed.

BIBLE READING: James 1: 5-6; PRO. 4:6-7; PRO. 13:1

“If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.” J‭ames‬ ‭1:5‬ ‭NKJV.‬‬

Wisdom is the application of Understanding that comes from God. It is the right application of knowledge to get the desired result. In James 1:5, we are instructed to ask God for wisdom if we are lacking in it and He will give it.

God as our Father and Creator has made His wisdom available in His Word; the Word of God is the wisdom of God; we are not expected to neglect it as instructed in Joshua 1:8, “This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success (NKJV).” It is from our heavenly Father that we get the wisdom we apply in our lives.

Apart from the wisdom we get from God, our heavenly Father, we can obtain wisdom from the teachings of our spiritual and biological fathers. In the Bible, we see that Timothy drew wisdom from his spiritual father Paul. Paul charged Timothy in 2 Timothy 3: 14-15(NIV), “But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, because you know those from whom you learned it, and how from infancy you have known the Holy scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.”

Eccl.7:11 shows that an inheritance is incomplete without wisdom. “Wisdom is good with an inheritance: and by it there is profit to them that see the sun(KJV).”

In 1Kings 2: 1- 9, just before David passed on, he instructed his son Solomon on how to rule and shared secrets on how to have his throne with a successor for life. Even Jesus needed to seek counsel from His Father (God). Growing up, He spent time in the temple asking the elders questions and gaining wisdom(Luke 2:43-52).

Fathers who have paid the price to truly become fathers, have a wealth of experience, knowledge, successes and even failures under their belt. When we sit at their feet and learn from them, it is like taking a short cut through the journey of life and ministry. We are able to avoid the traps and pitfalls of life, while gaining knowledge and wisdom that took them many years to gain and master. When we learn wisdom from the fathers, we stand on their shoulders and we can reach further and higher than they ever did.

In order to carry on the legacy of our fathers, we need to gain wisdom from them by sitting under their counsel. We give our fathers joy when we walk in wisdom (Proverbs 10: 1a).The wisdom of our fathers are truly priceless and will save us from mistakes and errors.

You can seek wisdom from your spiritual father by listening to his messages, reading his books and by praying to God for the same spirit in him to rest upon you.

• Seek to know God more through prayer and study of the word.

• Get messages and materials by your spiritual father.

• Learn to seek counsel from your spiritual father.

•Ask the Lord to grant you wisdom; pray for the spirit of wisdom.

• Pray that the grace that is on your spiritual father’s life will rest on you.

I walk in wisdom always because I seek counsel from my father and obey his instructions. I am safe, because I am in the multitude of counsel.

BIBLE READING: JOHN 14:7-9; EZEKIEL 2:1-2; 2 TIMOTHY 3:10-11

Humans have 23pairs of chromosomes formed from either the X or X and Y chromosomes that constitute their DNA. The Y Chromosome is the sex or gender determining chromosome. Together with the X Chromosome they form the 23rd pair of chromosomes in the male child. Women do not have the Y chromosome, it is passed on from fathers to their sons. It is what is tested to show paternal genealogy and inheritance. A person’s DNA contains information about their heritage. In the DNA are codes of traits like strengths, and weaknesses, etc., in fathers that are passed on to their sons. Whatever is in a father’s DNA will definitely show up in his sons. For example, Pastor David Ogbueli once said; “there are no new devils, every man will fight his father’s devils”. There may be things you are going through or will go through that occurred in your father’s life. Please remember that Apostle Paul made it clear that, in the realm of the spirit, there is neither male nor female (Gal. 3:28).

How does one inherit the spiritual DNA of his father? Remember that the DNA of a father consists of two key strands; the X and the Y chromosomes. These two strands are significant to the process of copying the DNA (DNA replication) and reading the information contained in the genes (DNA transcription). In the same way that fathers carry the biological DNA of a family so also, the set man of a ministry carries the DNA of that ministry. In these two strands are the vision, the purpose, the human resources, the strategies, the relationships, the apostolic and prophetic calendar etc., that have been given to the set man. The two strands are the MESSENGER and the MESSAGE.

Knowing and communing with your father is the way you know your father. In John 14:7-9, Jesus told us that He knows His Father (The MESSENGER) and that anyone who has seen Him has equally seen His Father. It is through knowing and fellowshipping with the father that traits, information, or codes, are copied. In 2Timothy 3:10-11, Apostle Paul reminded Timothy of the things he carried on his inside. He also shared with Timothy, the things he had been through that contributed to making him into the person he had become. Such knowledge so shaped Timothy that in Philippians 2:19-23, Apostle Paul made a very sobering remark about Timothy; no one likeminded, he cares for the brotherhood, he was a proven son, he served his father (ApostlePaul), he was trusted enough to be sent.

The other strand of the DNA is the MESSAGE. It is by feeding on your father’s messages that his spirit is imparted to you. In Ezekiel 2:1-2, the prophet said, as God spoke to him, the Spirit entered him, and stood him upon his feet. The Lord Jesus, in John 6:63 said, “…the words I speak unto you they are spirit and they are life.” A father’s preaching, teaching, counsel, instruction, rebuke, and correction are the materials that re-sequence the DNA of a son into that of his father (1 Thess.2: 10-11). A father is not just a coach; coaches are with you for a season, a father is with you for life. A father is not just a mentor; mentors transfer knowledge, while a father transfers life. Every true son must be a replica of his father.

Lord, I thank You for being my Father and giving me the gift of my spiritual father. I earnestly desire that Your DNA and that of my spiritual father will be replicated in me so that men will see the fruits and give You the glory.

God has not given me the spirit of fear, but the spirit of power, of love and of a sound mind.

There are, it may be, so many kinds of voices in the world, and none of them is without signification. 1 Cor. 14:10(KJV).

Too many voices are clamouring to be heard in this day and age. If you are not careful, you may be misguided to follow the loudest of the voices; or the most eloquent; or the most persistent; or even the nearest. Whichever way, you will miss the mark if you do not pause and listen with close attention to distinguish between the voices and be sure that you follow the one that you should – the voice of the Master.

In John 10:27-28(KJV), the Lord Jesus said, “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.” There are many voices of dissent claiming to be what they are not; some have turned the Bible upside down, saying things the Bible never said and doing things the Bible warned against.

Your first safety measure at this time is to keep your spiritual antennae on constant alert. One of the spiritual gifts you must covet earnestly at this time is that of discerning of spirits. This gift will keep you at peace whenever you are drinking from a clean source but whenever you are in unsafe hands, this gift will show you a red alert and compel you to separate yourself from that source.

If you are one of those who roams from place to place looking for visions and prophecies, then get ready for major deceptions that you are bound to encounter, some of which will be very costly. God plants people in families (Psalms 68:6). The candid advice here is that you stay in the family where God has planted you. He knows what you need and has provided for you in that family in which He planted you.

Pray for the activation of the gifts of the Holy Spirit in your life. Pray especially for the gift of discernment so that you will not fall into deception.

By the blood of Jesus Christ, I and my household have been insured from the pandemic, from sickness, from disease, from lack, from loss, and from the spirit of death.

There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: that the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God. But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his. And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you. Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh. For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live. Romans 8:1-13

George Mueller once remarked, “There was a day when I died; died to self, my opinions, preferences, tastes and will; died to the world, its approval or censure; died to the approval or blame even of my brethren or friends; and since then I have studied only to show myself approved unto God.” Our reading passage today sheds some more light on this subject of dying to self. “So then, my brothers, we are in debt, not to the flesh to be living in the way of the flesh: For if you go in the way of the flesh, death will come on you; but if by the Spirit you put to death the works of the body, you will have life. And all those who are guided by the Spirit of God are sons of God” (Romans 8:11-13 BBE).

Man is naturally selfish in his dealings. He wants the best for himself and does not mind what happens to others. He wants to be recognised and appreciated before all others; he wants to occupy the most dignified position even when he is not the most qualified for it; he is sensitive and touchy and can easily pick offence. If indeed you have surrendered to Christ, that “old man” with those traits should be dead – crucified with Christ. Like Paul, you should be able to say, “I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me” (Galatians 2:20). Until you die to self, you will not be able to manifest the glory of the risen Christ as you ought to.

• Pray for the spirit of obedience and submission.*

• Pray for fresh circumcision in your heart to take away the old nature and plant the new life of Christ in you.

• Pray for better understanding and use of God’s word.

*I put off my old nature and put on the new nature that is in the image and likeness of the risen Christ.*
